    Middle School Groups

    Exploration

    This is our newest youth group and it's just for 6th graders! Exploration will meet after school on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:00pm beginning October 4th.
    Our goals for Exploration are to:
    • introduce young teens to the middle school
    • introduce them to the goals of the WYC
    • allow students to create bonds and friendships with other WYC members and peer leaders
    • learn more about themselves
    • talk about important issues
    • be comfortable with themselves
    • build connections to the WYC
    • have fun!

    While playing games and going on various adventures we will address the following:
    • peer pressure
    • communication
    • cliques
    • transitions of middle school
    • bullying
    • role modeling
    • dances
    • relationships
    • teamwork

    Exploration members will have the opportunity to participate in many fun activities including:
    • scavenger hunts
    • field trips
    • movie nights
    • community service projects

    All 6th graders are invited to join us. We hope to see you soon!

    Pact

    PACT is our youth group just for 8th grade girls. Our goal for PACT is to create a dialogue about common issues that girls face as they enter high school and inspire a strong sense of self.
    Our meetings will focus on the following issues:
    • self-image
    • friends
    • peer pressure
    • expectations
    • relationships

    Through discussion, super fun activities, and special guest appearances we hope to motivate girls to build self-confidence and the ability to think critically and carefully about all of the decisions that they will make during the important transitions they face in the near future.
    PACT will meet on Thursday evenings beginning in January from 6:00-7:00. Please contact us for more info.

    Discover

    Discover is our youth group for all 7th and 8th graders. Discover meets on Tuesday nights from 6:00-7:00 beginning October 4th.
    Members of Discover learn about themselves and their peers and develop the skills to make informed decisions and positive choices. Each week the Peer Leaders lead the Discover members in games, activities, and discussions related to topics that are important to them. The goal of Discover is increase students' knowledge and abilities in the areas of:
    • transitions
    • bullying
    • alcohol and other drugs
    • media
    • on-line safety
    • family, friend, and dating relationships

    Discover is open to all 7th and 8th graders and students can join at anytime.

    Little Brothers & Sisters

    This is a select group for 8th graders who attend Discover, want to do something good for the community, and aspire to become Peer Leaders.
    This year's Little Brothers & Sisters will be selected in the Fall by the Peer Leaders who will serve as their mentors (Big Brothers & Sisters) for the remainder of the school-year.
    The Little Brothers & Sisters will:
    • help out at the drop-in center after school
    • participate in numerour community service projects
    • have the opportunity to develop their own projects to improve their community participate in fun activities with their Big Brothers & Sisters
    • attend weekly meetings on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:00

    Anyone who is interested in this program should come to Discover on Wednesday nights beginning September 29th.
